If you like to hike, are in school or walk to work, having a back pack is a great necessity to have. People think that you just need to put the back pack on your shoulder and head out the door, but there are some rules that you should follow when wearing backpacks. The first one is do not just sling it over one shoulder, because this can cause muscle imbalances, unnecessary strain on certain body parts, muscles, tendons and ligaments and can just be uncomfortable.
What we would suggest is that if you are going to be hiking, go to a local hiking outdoor shop and ask the expert in that area of the store to help you get fitted for a back pack. In addition, the same goes for if you are commuting to work via walking, biking or just in school. Having the correct backpack that distributes the weigh equally is of the utmost importance to avoid strain and injury in the lower back and other muscles.
If you are noticing that you need to be carrying more weight on your back, then you probably need to lighten the load or you need to start training your muscles and body to be able to carry such a load. If this is something you want to consider and you live in the Northwest, you should probably consult with a personal trainer Portland Oregon fitness expert in your area to help with this. If you have discrepancies and you are working with a physician and physical therapist, ask them what you could do outside of that clinical setting so you and your personal trainer can work on those exercises and goals together.

Thank You,

If you are a current personal trainer Portland Or client or you are thinking about hiring a personal trainer, then the most important aspect of this business and relationship is knowing what the cancellation policy is. When you have started to begin a professional relationship with your trainer, one of this most challenging things is when to charge your client when they do not show up or even cancel last minute. The industry standard is a 24 hour cancellation policy. Some people will say this is pretty harsh, but if you know you are sick when you wake up that day you are training, you probably did’t feel great the night before.
Your trainer will understand completely if it is a sickness or you had an emergency. The rule of thumb also is if you need to cancel with less than 24 hours cancellation notice, then make sure you are able to re-schedule that session within five days. If you do not, your personal trainer Portland Or has all the right to charge you for that session.
Both the client and the trainers time is worth something, so both have to respect that. When this is clear on both sides, then the client/trainer relationship will be even more professional.

Thank You,

The squat exercise is an excellent exercise if it does correctly. In simple terms, when doing this movement, always practice the ninety degree principle. Meaning, when you go in the squat movement you do not want your butt to go to far down towards the floor, like a lot of individuals do. This i not only correct form, but it can place a lot of unnecessary tension on the knees.

If you are looking to incorporate different variations of the squat exercise, then we recommend contacting a fitness professional or a personal trainer Portland in your area. The squat is an excellent full leg movement and when combined with other exercises (compound movements), you can reap a lot of great benefits, especially caloric expenditure.

A lot of injuries stem from the small muscles that surround a lot of the joints. If the injury has been diagnosed by a physician and you have worked with your physical therapist, there is going to be certain exercises that you are going to be responsible for on your own. In addition, once your insurance says you cannot go to physical therapy any more, then it is up to you to keep up the progress and that is where a Portland personal trainer will come in to the picture. The prescription that that your physician and physical therapists gives you can be taken over by your fitness professional. If they have any questions, they can always call your physical therapist and/or physician to get more information if it is needed. Good luck

Yes, it is true! Having a strong Core is synonymous with having a very strong body. Look at football players nowadays: they are strong, agile, amazing when off balance and can take a hit and keep on going. They have learned over the years through trial and error that in order to have a strong base, you need to have a very strong explosive legs and have a core that is in excellent condition. Power comes from the ground up and if you generate enough of it and come in contact with another moving body, that force is going to be given right back at you. When that force is placed back on your body, your core better be in amazing shape to withstand that shock.

The same is when you are functioning in daily life, your body is going to be exposed to various forces that can make you off balance and also force you to use your strength, power and agility to create or finish a movement. That is why functional training combined with Core strengthening exercises is extremely important.

Thanks,

The time is just around the corner and that means that all of us are going to be working out 2013 goals or if we want to take it to the next level, our vision boards. Like many of us, it can be a challenging time to focus on new goals or existing ones, especially if they were not accomplished in 2012. What if you have made the same goal year after to year to lose those ten pounds and it never comes to fruition. You have tried time and time again and without success. You keep telling yourself that you are going to enroll in some group training classes, you are going to find a workout partner (challenging to find) and that you are going to eat better, but it does not happen. The question that we want to ask you is, why have you not searched for some assistance. There are individuals that help motivate individuals like yourself to make those goals happen. Sometimes it is just a little accountability that is needed in order to make those wants and goals into results. Why not hire a Portland fitness trainer? They are going to guess work out of exercise, fitness and training, so all you have to do is show up, be consistent and enjoy the process.

Good Luck,

So you are wondering how are we supposed to keep those unwanted inches off of our waists, buttocks and legs! Well, the answer is to don’t put that much in our mouths and also monitor the type of food we are putting on that fork. You will be amazed how many calories a chocolate cheese cake has per bit or a flour-less chocolate cake. If you are working with a fitness professional or a Personal Trainer Portland Oregon in you area, tell them that you want to keep a strict journal during this time frame. Even though the big holiday is a few days away, we still have New Years and it is cold here in Portland, Oregon. We need to keep the motivation up to a high and the fork less in our mouths. Be consistent, write in your food journal and watch what types of foods your are ingesting, because it will all matter in the end. If you have to think twice about what you are eating, then you probably know that it is not ideal for your body. It is okay to indulge once in awhile, but plan for it and when you do, enjoy it, because you know it is not everyday.

Thank You,

Are you still doing the behind the neck lat pull-down? If so, you should probably stop, because your shoulders will thank you for it. Why is it a problem to do this exercise? The reason is because when we do a pull up, are going to climb something or pull up and then thrust our bodies, we are not pulling a bar behind our head. The motion of pulling an external resistance, moving our head and neck anterior from our body, and then bringing a load down while all of those body parts are stressed forward, is not good. Also, it is not a natural movement that we do, even when we are pulling ourselves up over something or performing pull-ups. Yes, it may provide cool muscle definition when doing the exercises, but traditional pull-ups, chin-ups will provide better and safer results. That is why taking a few lessons from a fitness professional or Portland personal trainer can be very advantageous once in awhile.
The most challenging parts about fitness, exercise and doing resistance training is that you need to learn breathing technique, form and proper bio-mechanics. Without the basic fundamentals you will end up injuring yourself or feel uncomfortable because you do not know how to do the exercises properly and you just stop going to the fitness gym.
This is one reasons why people hire a coach, find a workout partner or ask other individuals in the gym for advice or an occasional spot. Before you decide to quit your gym, try utilizing a private personal training studio in your area. If you are living in the Pacific Northwest, then we highly recommend that you contact a Portland personal trainer and just tell them what your current workout routine is, and we are sure that they will make it better, more effective and safer for you.
